What inspired me to start photography?
I've always enjoyed a creative atmosphere or outlet in any form, photography being one of my favourites since I was handed my first hot pink Canon PowerShot. Being present in special moments and clicking the shutter of my camera to relay a story in stills is so beautifully creative and powerful. I can't think of what I'd rather do. I'm so blessed to be able to do this job in an area where there is so much talent in the creative field; with so many individuals to gain insight from, share inspiration with and start friendships with.
Where am I, if I'm not behind the camera?
I enjoy being at home, hanging out with my husband, Ryan, our sweet little boy, Jasper, and our little gal, Solelle. We love the mountains and the ocean, and try to make it to either of those once a year. We also love our little church, where I man the cameras (naturally). If we can't be found there, we can be found with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors (preferably not winter, for me),or binge-watching The Office or Friends for the umpteenth time.
What's my favourite session to Photograph?
I think every session has it's favourites for me. I love engagements + weddings because I have the opportunity to photograph love stories and be apart of these beautiful moments within them. I love graduation shoots because its so fun and creative, I love meeting the young graduates and learning their favourite things and what they're planning for the future! I love families, they're candid, unique and always an adventure! But, if I had to choose my favourite session to shoot, it would probably be lifestyle newborn shoots. There is something so raw and beautiful of stepping into someone's home and photographing this new little life that's entered the world. I can't explain it, but there's rarely a bad photo taken because they're just the very cutest.
What can you expect from me behind the camera?
If you're on this website, thinking about booking a session, or inquiring about a wedding, I'm already so excited and honoured to start chatting with you. If you decide to step in front of my lens, I'll make it my mission to help you feel comfortable. Most people haven't been in front of a camera much, so I understand the trepidation that can often come along with that. I assure you that we'll have fun, you can expect awkward jokes along the way. But I also want to get to know you and your story. So I'll ask questions in between shots. My goal is for you to feel less like this is a photoshoot and more like this is a hangout, and your new friend just happens to have a camera in her hands.
What kinds of sessions do I capture?
I've captured just about every sort of session in the last eight years. I specialize in wedding + engagement photography! Some of my favourite sessions outside of weddings are grads, maternity + newborn, and families!
